The Hyo Table in Zebra is a variation on the traditional Shou Sugi Ban finish. It offers an unique and eye-catching blend of modern minimalism, dramatic texture and Japanese-inspired artistry. This wood cube side table or stool features an maximalist, yet organic, textured surface, with depth and contrasts of color. A daring and earthy accent for any living space, it brings a touch of organic sophistication and playfulness.

Zebras are much more than just "striped horses." These incredibly fast, social animals boast unique fingerprint-like patterns and form strong family bonds. We knew that no HYO was like another, but this piece drives the idea home.

We burn Alabama yellow pine, using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban finishing method. Add a few extra steps (plus a little extra sealer.) These wooden cube side tables are best for indoor use, but can be used outdoors if in a covered area and/or regularly refinished. Durable and versatile, cluster several Hyos for a  coffee table. They are even sturdy enough to use as informal seating.

Dimension: 20" High

Note on Materials: With shou sugi ban / zebra finish, the color is the reaction of burning the pine. There is no stain, so the color may vary. Cracks are part of the rustic beauty of these side tables. If the finish cracks or chips, you may see some raw pine underneath. Natural materials and will age over time and with exposure to the elements—the more exposure, the quicker they will age. Expansion and contraction due to temperature variability may occur.

Wood Care: If outside, the urethane should be scuffed and reapplied as needed, approximately yearly, for best results. See our FAQs
