OPPORTUNITY: Sawyer / Sawmill Operator

This job is milling logs into dimensional lumber and slabs with a Lucas Mill. Responsibilities of this job include lifting, loading logs and large of large slabs of wood on and off of trucks, around yard and on/off of mill,

Work experience and skills with wood, machinery mechanics, forklift and sawmill are all valued. You should be able to work fast and efficiently and be prepared to clean up and work as part of a team. We will train the right person.

Job Type: Full-time; Pay based on skill level.

Since this work is 80% outdoors. Hours can be flexible based on weather and time of year.

Training as a woodworker is an added benefit and growth opportunity

OPPORTUNITY: Wood Finisher

As Alabama Sawyer continues to grow, we are looking for a Wood Finisher to join our team.

The desired candidate will be organized, reliable, hardworking, self motivated and detail oriented.

Requirements:

Previous wood finishing experience or related demonstrated skills
Thorough knowledge of the methods, equipment, materials, tools & practices of wood finishing or demonstrated aptitude to learn quickly
If you have a willingness to learn, are adaptive to change, and excel in an open, creative environment you may be the artisan we are looking for!

Essential Duties + Responsibilities:

filling, sanding, staining to prepare pieces
must be able to spray immaculate lacquer and urethane finishes and must be quality driven and focused with the ability to produce multiple pieces each week
Cleaning & preparing wood surfaces, including taping and masking off areas
Spray and/or rolling finished products
Clean, sand, finish wood products
Finishing area & small tool maintenance and cleaning
Communicates and interacts well with team members
Ability to work well in a team environment

Qualifications:

Must be able to handle multiple projects while adhering to deadlines
Identify different wood species
Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
Reliable and hardworking
Professional appearance and demeanor
Wants to be part of something great
Comfortable not working in an office
