Reclaimed Wood Beam Bench with Back | Valley Beam Bench

The Valley beam bench with live edge back utilizes salvaged local pine logs for a rustic bench. The trio of a simple form of the bottom with rusted corten steel legs and a graceful live edge back, expresses the natural textures of the end grain pine, live edge wood and industrial rusted steel to create an elegant and intriguing seating.

The (Japanese) way of wabi sabi is to find profound beauty in imperfection, and to accept the impermanence of life.

Note on Materials: Corten steel plate base and pine is the standard version. Corten is a quick-rusting steel.

Cracks are part of the rustic beauty of these pieces. If the finish cracks or chips, you may see some raw pine underneath. You may notice differences from piece to piece or to images on the website or between samples received. There is no stain on the clear/natural, so the color may vary. This is a quality of natural wood. The knots and cracks that you may see will not cause structural deficiencies as they are an organic aspect of the wood. We view these elements not as flaws, but as reminders of the tree from which each piece is born. Natural materials will age over time and with exposure to the elements—the more exposure, the quicker they will age. Expansion and contraction due to temperature variability may occur. They will age with integrity when cared for appropriately.

Wood Care: Covered outdoor is preferable to complete exposure to the elements. Wood will react faster outside. It may move, as with all wood. Natural movement may reveal wood underneath. This can be enjoyed for it's organic beauty. If outside, the urethane should be scuffed and reapplied as needed, approximately yearly, for best results. See our FAQs
