Handcrafted by Alabama Sawyer, a sustainable Alabama furniture and home goods company, these limited edition tailgate boards are made from wood salvaged from our beloved UA campus trees—like the ones lining the Quad or standing tall near Denny Chimes. These are trees full of history and memories and sequestered carbon. The trees had to come down—we didn’t want them to. At least they won't go to waste!
Crafted from urban trees, instead of farmed wood, no two boards are the same. They are unique like every UA student and alumni. Honor our trees’ history and support sustainable sourcing.
This UA-driven project is led by students with guidance from faculty, repurposing campus trees into meaningful keepsakes while giving back to the university.
Plus, 5% of each purchase supports the University of Alabama Arboretum, a scientific institution dedicated to teaching, research, and service with a focus on Alabama’s ecology and biodiversity. Your purchase helps protect the natural beauty and ecological heritage of our campus for future generations.
The first release will be just 24 boards, with wood options from pecan trees from the orchard near University Hall and sweet gum from Blount Hall. Once sold out, a waitlist will open for future drops. New boards will be released every 4–6 weeks based on wood availability and small batch production capacity.
