We probably all know we’re supposed to be composting, but hardly any of us actually do the deed. This form of recycling food scraps is wonderful for Mother Earth, but it isn’t exactly the most visually inspiring on your kitchen countertop. Which got us thinking: wouldn’t it be great if a composting bin was as good looking as it was effective? Well, look no further, we scoured the world wide web and found some really good looking, functional (i.e. stinkless!) containers for all your composting desires!
Whether you are a seasoned pro, or if you have yet to start your composting journey, this list is for you. If you have yet to try composting, it couldn’t be easier. And yep, I promise, if you grab a container specifically made for composting, your kitchen will not smell like food waste—as long as you clear out scraps weekly, and take it to your local drop-off (like your farmers market composting spot), a community garden, or your own personal garden. Some cities even provide composting bins similar to trash receptacles. (Check with your local authorities to see what options are available to you. For example, this is New York residents’ guide to composting.)
Here is another resource for composters in Brooklyn, NY, Nashville, TN, or most any other state in the USA including Los Angeles and Santa Monica
If you are cooking at home, you can compost. Not only are you reducing food waste, but you are also helping to make soil flourish (nutrients in those foods will basically feed the soil). Compost-safe foods are vegetables, fruits (any part of ‘em!), eggshells, coffee grounds, and even plants, flowers, and leaves. Not-allowed scraps include meat, fish, dairy, and oils.

How cute is this!? This little petite size is perfect for a smaller household ideally, and is honestly the best looking we’ve ever seen. The removable metal bin also makes it a breeze to clean weekly, assuring it stays in tip-top shape for years to come. The cherry on top? It’s a socially-responsible product in that it’s made-to-order—meaning less waste and excess product produced overall.
Want it, but need more space to compost? Goop offers it in a larger size, too
